Normally, both Local and Remote File Systems are supported by synchronization software. It can synchronize with Windows File System, LAN Shares File System or Remote File System through FTP and WebDAV protocols. Below is a detailed description of Local and Remote File Systems that most synchronization software supports.
1. My computer.
Any folders in all disks of the computer or USB storage devices can be chosen to synchronize or backup. Select folders from tree gram of interface or input the whole folder route in Address field as a result of c:Folder Name...Target Folder.
2. Network. Network Share of Microsoft networking can be chosen.
a. Input share name in Address field to connect the network first.
b. Open sub-folder when root folders in Shares shown in interface.
c. Select target folder. Result will be: share namediskfolder.
3. FTP. Remote FTP servers.
a. Input server name, UserID and Password to connect servers. E.g: ftp://server.domain.com or ftp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
b. Open sub-folder when root folders in FTP shown in interface.
c. Select target folder. Result will be: ftp:// server.domain.com/folder.
4. WebDAV. DAV is an upload-enabled extension of HTTP protocol. It means that some folders on the server may be HTTP only and some may allow DAV uploads. You cannot connect to HTTP-only folder using DAV file system.
a. Input server name as http://server/rootfolder, UserID and Password to connect server.
b. Open sub-folder when root folders in DAV shown in interface.
c. Select target folder. Result will be: http:// server/rootfolder/folder.
5. Windows Mobile phones and Pocket PC devices
Folders on Windows Mobile phones and Pocket PC devices can be connected since Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) or ActiveSync have been installed on the desktop. Follow the steps above to select your folder. Result will be: wm: my phone/My Documents/sync data.
6. Amazon S3. Amazon S3 server.
Amazon UserID is required. Input the URL like http://s3.amazonaws.com/folder/file.ext, UserID and Password to connect the server.
